Where do I hang the Infrared heater?  Imagine your infrared heater is like the sun.  It needs to be above you, on the ceiling or wall, with nothing in front of it to cast a shadow.

Do I need a specialist to fit it for me?  No, all heaters come with a flex, plug and screw fixings at the back. However, if you want your panel to look really stylish we recommend you get a qualified electrician to permanently fix the panel into the wall and chisel in the wiring then fit a room thermostat and timer which will give you full control of your heating.

How much will it cost to run?  A 1kw panel will take in 1kw of energy to provide 1kw of heat, there is no wasted energy in fans or lights and no loss of heat with pipes or covers. Once your panel has reached temperature it will only be "on" for about 30% of the time so the running cost will be far less than 1kw per hour. Please refer to your energy supplier for your current electricity tariff per hour. Heating costs will vary on other factors too, such as the quality of the glass in the conservatory, whether you have good quality thermal blinds fitted and if the conservatory is facing south in a sheltered location. Heatstar patio heaters are also cheap to run as the heater is only heating you and not trying to heat the air, this form of heating in the outdoors is far more environmentaly friendly.

Is infrared safe to use in a family environment?  Yes, our panels should be hung high on the wall or ceiling so it should not receive any accidental damage by children and there are no moving parts or open grills for small fingers to go poking things into. The surface of a panel will only get as hot as any other radiator in the house.

However the high powered Heatstar products will get very hot. Becuase this heater has a higher output to cope with heating larger areas and outdoor spaces it will get hot, precautions should be taken not to touch the heater element when on, this heater has a gentle orange glow when switched on.

Will the heater need any maintenance or servicing?  No, there are no parts to be serviced unlike conventional boilers and radiators, a simple wipe down with a damp cloth is sufficient.

How long will it take to warm up?  You will instantly feel the benefits of the infrared heating, as it will warm people and objects first, so even if the air temperature is chilly you will feel warm! Panels can either be fitted with a timer and room thermostat to come on at the same times as the house central heating or just switched on when needed.

I am trying to do my bit for the environment, is infrared environmentally friendly? Infrared is one of the most energy efficient ways to keep you warm when in the conservatory.  Conservatories will lose their heat eight times faster than a standard house wall so it would be incredibly wasteful to try to heat a conservatory all day and evening in the winter when it will only be used for a short period in that day. Our heaters are designed to warm you first and not the air, whilst standard hot air radiant heaters are not very environmentally friendly at all because they heat the air which is then lost through the glass before it has a chance to warm you.
